Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy treatments are performed at CCMA. The treatments can be cosmetic or a follow-up to surgery. Sclerotherapy is used to treat:
- Spider veins and small veins that are not causing more serious problems.
- Smaller varicose veins that come back after vein-stripping surgery.
- Larger varicose veins, when newer techniques are used.
Sclerotherapy treatments consist of an injection into the veins. They generally take 20-30 minutes per visit and do not require any recovery period. Patients can walk immediately after the treatment, but they should take it easy and void strenuous exercise for a few days. Patients usually have to wear compression stockings after having sclerotherapy.
Most insurance carriers consider sclerotherapy cosmetic and will not pay for this service. The fee for sclerosing of the veins is $40 per treatment. This fee is payable prior to receiving the service.
